Sellafield

Sellafield is one of the UK's most complex and significant industrial sites, located on the coast of Cumbria. As a former Nuclear power plant, the site no longer generates power, but is instead focused on decomissioning and radioactive waste management, developing research and leading innovation for the next generation of nuclear power projects.

With over 80 years of experience in the sector, Sellafield plays a major role in the UK's nuclear energy industry, responsible for safely dismantling radioactive facilities, treating nuclear waste for long-term disposal and managing legacy contamination to maintain land and water safety.

While Sellafield's primary mission is nuclear clean up, it is also supporting regional clean energy projects including nuclear fusion research, developing small modular reactor supply chains and hydrogen innovation.
